Dear Alaskan Employer:

Under Alaska Statute 25.27.075 all employers are required to report every new hire and rehire to the Child Support Enforcement division (CSED) within 20 days of hire. The only exceptions to this requirement are employers who have employees in more than one state and report to another state.

The New Hire Registry is a program established pursuant to the  Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996, 42 U.S.C. 653a. It required each state, the District of Columbia, and the Federal Government to establish a system where all new hires or rehires, by any employer, must be reported to a state-established New Hire Registry. All employers with employees have been required since 1997 to register with their state to report new hires within 20 days of employment. Employers who file new hire reports electronically must file a report every 12 to 16 days. We at CSED are very interested in working with employers to assure compliance. This law will help children, as we are able to quickly determine where absent parents are working.

Then provide the following information:

Employees

• Full name
• Street address
• City, State, & Zip Code
• Social Security Number
• Date of birth
• Date of hire / rehire
• State of hire

Employers

• Name
• Payroll department street address
• Payroll department City, State, & Zip Code
• Federal EIN (Employer Identification Number)
• State EIN (Employer Identification Number

If the employee or employer has a foreign address, we also need the name of the country and zip code.
